Precise 9.0 Transaction Performance Management (TPM): Spanning Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud with vSphere Integration
Enterprise Management Associates, Sep 2010, Pages: 3
On August 30 at VMworld 2010, Precise Software Solutions, based in Redwood Shores, Ca., introduced Precise for Cloud, a transaction performance management solution focused on optimizing quality of service (QoS) for applications running on private, public, and hybrid cloud platforms. While the promise of cost and productivity benefits from cloud computing strikes a chord with budget-constrained IT departments, it also sets off alarm bells for the cautious CIO.
QoS concerns become more of a challenge in such environments for a variety of reasons. One is that cloud-based solutions run in virtualized environments. They can be rapidly deployed and provisioned, but most IT organizations lack visibility into such environments. Without the “right” management solutions, virtualized environments are “black boxes”. They consume resources, often in contention with one another, and IT teams have no way to ensure that applications running on Virtual Machines (VMs) can meet QoS and Service Level Agreement (SLA) objectives.
In addition, the nature and design of VMs have made troubleshooting application performance problems a challenge. Precise aims to address these challenges by extending its transaction-level performance platform to public and private cloud environments via a strong integration partnership with VMware.
