A key concern of Africa’s political, economic and social stability is that of governance. Although a contested term and definition, there is no question that the way in which a State operates its country is vital to its prosperity, effectiveness and stability. The Africa 2009/10 report examines governance issues facing Africa, through the Ibrahim Governance Index and regional political bodies on the continent. African elections, an important aspect of governance, are also examined and provide an analysis on the current trends and direction of governance on the continent.
