Deep Packet Inspection Market for ISPs 2010-2015
Infiniti Research Limited, Dec 2010, Pages: 35
The exponentially growing broadband market has increased the use of deep packet technology (DPI) by internet service providers (ISPs). With a 65 percent market share, ISPs use DPI to effectively combat bottle necks, security issues and falling profit margins. DPI has surpassed the use and benefits of shallow packet technology. Despite protests from net neutrality supporters, this technology continues to enjoy increased adoption. Out of the various segments, mobile broadband is expected to show explosive growth impacting the overall market’s roadmap. More stable segments like cable ISP continue to hold the highest market share at 36 percent. This can be attributed to the fact that USA which dominates the market, has seen most cable providers going the DPI way.
TechNavio’s analyst says,“The Einstein program in the US has impacted the market segmentation in a big way. Thanks to these programs North America holds more than 50% of the market share. However, the slowdown in the US broadband market could change this scenario in the coming years.”
According to TechNavio, the DPI market for ISPs stood at $222.3 million at the end of 2009, and it is expected to cross the $ 1 billion mark and reach $1073.2 million by 2015.
