Highlights - Holding of current accounts in Spain does not reflect the global trend for an increase in holding with age. The highest holding in Spain is seen in the 25 to 34 age band, where 88% of consumers hold this product. The lowest holding is in the over 65 age band where only 70% of consumers have a current account.
- Only 61% of consumers in Spain holds an account with a domestic bank. This is lower than the 68% global average. 17% hold their current account with a regional bank.
- 62% of consumers in Spain hold their saving account with a domestic bank and 16% with a regional bank. Use of regional banks is greater than the global average, and domestic banks are being used less by Spanish consumers.
