Overview

The U.S. utility solar electric market has taken off in 2010, growing nearly 300 percent to a total of 251 megawatts (MW). As utility solar grows, it has emerged as a distinct market, different from other segments in technology, geographic concentration, types of party’s involved, regulatory drivers, and, crucially, success factors for project developers.

In this online conference, building on the new report from AltaTerra Research,'Utility Solar: U.S. Market Takes Off,”the report’s lead author, Jon Guice addresses:

- Actual installation data through the close of 2010 -- and profiles of the largest projects
- Leading module suppliers, installers, and owners of 10 MW+ plants
- Key regulatory drivers and challenges for project developers
- Trends to watch in 2011 and beyond

In the report, Florida Power & Light (FPL) is highlighted as a utility leader in the deployment of solar plants. As part of the session, Kathryn Salvador, renewable project development manager at Florida Power & Light, one of the country’s largest utilities and renewables owners, discusses her experience developing projects—from concept to commissioning.
