Cigarettes in Kazakhstan
Euromonitor International, July 2011, Pages: 28
Stabilisation of the economy and a rise in disposable incomes had a significant positive impact on volume sales of cigarettes in 2010. Those consumers that had cut down on smoking during the economic downturn returned to their smoking habit. As a result, volume sales increased by 4% in 2010, in comparison with a drop of 11% in 2009. This can also be attributed to growth in the number of smokers, with numbers mainly increasing due to popularity amongst Kazakhstan’s younger generation.
