Vietnam Mobile Services Market Research - Opportunities and Forecast for Mobile VAS and Applications – 2011 to 2015

Consumers in the survey reported using their mobile apps or value added services in a variety of contexts. For this report, consumers were asked in which situations they most frequently use their apps, 59% said they frequently use their apps when they are alone, and about half said they frequently use their apps while they are waiting for someone or something (28%) or while at work (39%). 28% said they frequently use their apps while commuting to work or school.

Vietnam's rapidly growing youth population with a high disposable income has been driving significant demand for mobile services in this Southeast Asian country. Back in 2007, the mobile phone penetration rate in the Vietnam market was only 18.5% - but with aggressive expansion from leaders like Viettel we are seeing over a half million new mobile simcards being sold every month.
