Peru: Mobile Data Revenue to Triple by 2015 as 3G Services Increase
Pyramid Research, Inc, Dec 2010
The Peruvian telecom market will close 2010 having generated $3.7bn in service revenue, and it is expected to expand at a CAGR of 4.6% over the next five years. The fastest growth segments will be mobile data (24.8% CAGR), VoIP (10.9% CAGR) and pay-TV (6% CAGR). Mobile data revenue will triple over the next five years, as mobile penetration increases, 3G networks are deployed and smartphone prices drop as they become more broadly used. Fixed broadband is expected to grow at a 5% CAGR during the period fuelling pay-TV growth. In the outlook period we expect fixed circuit-switched revenue to continue decreasing due to fixed-mobile substitution and VoIP services. DSL and other broadband technologies will keep gaining while dial-up Internet will continue decreasing in the forecast period.
