Under the merger agreement, Invitrogen acquired all the outstanding shares of Applied Biosystems for a purchase consideration of $38 per share in a combination of cash and stock for a total value of $6,700 million. Life Technologies trades on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol LIFE.Under the terms of the merger agreement, Instruments and systems solutions will continue to be sold under the Applied Biosystems brand name, while the combined company's broad offering of reagents will be sold under the Invitrogen brand name.
