Global Feta & White Cheese Markets 2011
Proteus Insight, Jan 2011
Global feta and white cheese consumption is expected to increase 1.5% on 2009 levels by the end of 2010. While there has been difficulties in markets such as Greece, the spiritual home of feta, economic recovery in European markets such as Germany and further strong growth in the Middle East region are expected to be among the main contributing factors in an increase in global consumption of crumbly, fresh white cheese. The category continues to maintain a significant artisanal sector, however, large scale industrial dairy processors have been making inroads and increasing their share of supply of the global market.
The new Proteus Insight report highlights the development of the Global Feta and White Cheese consumption from 2000 to 2010, with forecasts to 2016 and includes:
- Volume (tonnes) and Value in € and $US in 110 markets covering 2000-2010 - Pack size volume split (10-99g, 100-199g, etc) - Pack type volume split (Carton, Plastic Tub, Can/Tin, Vacuum packed, etc) - Manufacturer volume share for 2010 in each of the 110 markets - Share of Aritsanal volume production in each of the 110 markets - Local production versus imports
The report also examines regional varieties and asides from feta also looks at the market for other white cheese types, including quesos frescos, brynzda, minas frescal among others.
