The report finds that worldwide motherboard application IC market volume, which saw three consecutive sequential declines in the previous three quarters since fourth quarter of 2009, witnessed a sequential growth but still suffered from a year-on-year decline in the third quarter of 2010. The market volume is expected to have dropped slightly in the fourth quarter of 2010. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that the market volume in the first quarter of 2011 will enjoy both sequential and year-on-year growth for the first time since the fourth quarter of 2007, driven largely by rising replacement demand for commercial desktop PCs in 2011.
