Scandianvian Market for Dental Implants and Final Abutments 2011
iData Research, March 2011, Pages: 86
The Scandinavian market includes Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway. The Swedish dental implant market was by far the largest of any Scandinavian country, Sweden is the birthplace of dental implants and benefits from the presence of Nobel Biocare and Astra Tech’s headquarters. Sweden’s former long standing government insurance coverage of implants for patients over 65 years of age has resulted in the second highest implant per capita rate in Europe. However, the reimbursement system changed in the summer of 2008, which insured patients of all ages, reducing the total contribution level per implant. The Danish market for dental implants resembled the market in Germany far more than that of Sweden. Implant procedures were not insured, but acceptance of implants was quite high. The Norwegian market featured the highest implant ASPs. The Finnish market was relatively small with the lowest implant per capita rate among Scandinavian countries.
