A subsidiary of investment bank and brokerage Lehman Brothers through that company`s Lehman Brothers Bancorp unit, Aurora Loan Services originates prime and subprime residential mortgage loans through wholesale and correspondent channels. It services the loans as well. The company also buys mortgages originated by other mortgage bankers, banks, and credit unions. Lehman Brothers plans to merge another of its mortgage lending units, BNC Mortgage, which originates subprime residential loans, with Aurora Loan Services.
