Berkshire Health Systems serves the residents of Massachusetts and surrounding regions. The system operates two acute-care hospitals: Berkshire Medical Center with 300 beds, and Fairview Hospital with 25 beds. Berkshire Medical Center is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Massachusetts` medical school. It also operates the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association (home health care), a family health center (BMC Hillcrest), and several outpatient clinics, as well as about 20 long-term care facilities in Massachusetts, Ohio, and Pennsylvania through affiliate Berkshire Healthcare. Berkshire Health Systems was founded in 1983.
