The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is a not-for-profit research, information, and advocacy organization that is working to prevent and cure diabetes as well as to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes. The ADA has operations in all 50 states and Washington, DC. America`s Walk for Diabetes is the group`s main fund raiser; others include the Tour de Cure (cycling), School Walk for Diabetes, and Kiss-A-Pig, to honor the pig for its role in discovering the effectiveness of insulin in controlling diabetes. The ADA was founded in 1940.
