Cloud Computing: The Next IT Frontier for Financial Services?

Cloud computing is promoted by IT solution providers as a model that allows companies and, especially IT teams, to focus on their core business, delegating technological operations to another party.
And although many companies are adopting the cloud computing model, including medium-sized Latin American companies that benefit from it by not having to invest significant initial capital to acquire basic infrastructure, the fact is that take-up in the Latin American financial industry has not followed the same trend.
One of the main reasons for not becoming an early adopter of cloud computing is the sensitive information processed by the financial industry, which means that banks and insurance companies need to look at other methods and models to find the benefits that cloud computing promises.
This report examines the pros and cons of cloud computing specifically from the perspective of the financial services sector, highlighting cases where this technology has been implemented selectively or partially.
