This syndicated report provides an overview of the Australian ICT Budget for FY 2010-11

Last year the authors predicted a relatively major ICT budget slowdown for 2009-10 of 1% growth in ICT spending, down from 8%, across the Australia economy. The latest revised actual spending for this period was 2%. For the 2010-11 year the authors prediction is for a 4% growth in total spending across both public and private sectors, including wages, for all ICT related occupations.

The large organisations surveyed in the 2010 ICT Spending and Priorities studies, comprised of the ICT Spending and Service Delivery study along with the ICT Adoption and Priorities study reported an intent to increase ICT budgets in 2010-11, with spending on new investments up by 4% to 17% of budget spending. Spending on internal personnel costs, as well as on services are expected to grow significantly in 2010-11. At the end of 2010 Australian CIO's and ICT decision makers are generally more confident about the direction and performance of their businesses, and the ICT economy in general.
