Personalized Medicine
Future Science Ltd, Nov 2010, Pages: 91
The right drug for the right patient at the right time for the right period of time is the basic premise of personalized medicine. Personalized medicine has the potential of narrowing this gap in drug safety between what is projected from clinical trials and what actually occur in practice. Moreover, by keeping our focus on meeting the patient’s needs – rather than on only the details of the drug product or the disease, we may be able to improve the efficiency of future drug development. This Special Focus Issue of the peer-reviewed journal Therapeutic Delivery features 9 manuscripts relating to the personalized delivery of therapeutics to patients including 'Personalizing aerosol medicine: development of delivery systems tailored to the individual' and 'Stem cells and regenerative medicine: accomplishments to date and future promise'.
