Founded in the year 1816 as the Ancienne Mutuelle, AXA is a French global insurance body having presence worldwide. The AXA group is actively involved in life, health and other types of insurance, including investment management. It has its presence mainly in Western Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region and the Middle East.
AXA operates its investment branch through AXA Investment Managers and has five operating business divisions which are Life & Savings, Property & Casualty, International Insurance (including reinsurance), Asset Management and Other Financial Services. The firm also owns the online insurer Swiftcover, dental payment plan provider Denplan, distribution business Bluefin and fund manager Architas.
