Archives of Medicine is the first open access journal (open access) in Spanish.

The aim of the Journal of Archivos de Medicina is; to improve the health of people in the developing world. The Journal fulfils this aim by publishing papers on a wide range of clinical topics as well as on the determinants and epidemiology of illnesses and researches.

How are decisions on publication made? Firstly, the paper needs to address the core objective of the journal described above. Secondly, methodology is very important; the publisher is looking for high quality experimental and observational studies.

The publisher wants to see substantial clinical and public health questions addressed. Often, the best way to do this is by using an experimental study design. The randomised controlled trial continues to offer important strengths, addressing issues of confounding and reducing the risks of bias.

This publication aims to make this information widely available to doctors, nurses, other health workers and administrators in resource poor settings where up-to-date information is hard to find. It is hoped that such information will be helpful in reviewing treatment policies, clinical practice and public health strategies
