The Taiwanese Digital Satellite STB Industry, 1Q 2011

This research report presents Taiwanese digital satellite STB shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of shipment volume, value and ASP, manufacturer volume ranking, and shipment by maker. The report also provides shipment by function and examines price trends, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with digital terrestrial STB makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese digital satellite STB industry's shipment volume and value, which scored double-digit year-on-year and sequential growth in the second and third quarters of 2010, continued well into the fourth quarter of 2010. It is, however, anticipated that the industry's shipment volume and value growth in the first quarter of 2011 will slow down significantly, witnessing a double-digit sequential decline. Nevertheless, the industry's shipment volume and value is estimated to rebound in the second quarter of 2011 and continue to grow steadily throughout 2011, thank to the cancellation of customs duties on satellite STB products imported to Europe, thereby increasing the share of orders placed by European customers with Taiwanese manufacturers.
