This report examines in detail the market for prostatectomy catheters in France over the three-year period 2007-2009. A distinction is made between the different materials: siliconised latex/silicone coated latex, hydrogel coated latex, all silicone and PVC. For each material, the report gives market size in volume and in value and market shares in volume.
Market structure in volume and in value is provided for all prostatectomy catheters. Consumption figures were collected directly from hospitals, then analysed using linear regression. Analyses were performed for each category of hospital within the public and the private sectors separately.
The market for prostatectomy catheters has steadily increased in recent years. It was valued at just under four million euros in 2009 of which almost 70 percent were accounted for by private hospitals. Three suppliers - Porgès/Coloplast, Bard and Rüsch/Teleflex, share the market.
