Colombia Consumer Electronics Report Q2 2011
Business Monitor International, March 2011, Pages: 38
Colombia Consumer Electronics Report provides industry professionals and strategists, corporate analysts, electronics associations, government departments and regulatory bodies with independent forecasts and competitive intelligence on Colombia's consumer electronics industry.
Colombia’s consumer electronics devices market, defined as the addressable market for computing devices, mobile handsets and video, audio and gaming products, was estimated at US$4.1bn in 2011. Despite current economic headwinds, the market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.1% to US$ 5.9bn by 2015, driven by demand for TV sets, notebook computers and digital cameras as well as rising incomes and greater credit availability.
Latest retail sales figures highlighted a positive outlook for private consumption, although, BMI does not see growth returning quickly to pre-crisis levels. We anticipate general credit conditions to gradually improve in line with the pickup in the global economy, and this should help fuel further growth from 2011 onwards. Continued – if slower – growth in spending should see per capita consumer electronics spend reach US$113 by 2015.
