Quantifying Savings Opportunities for Telecom Expense Management (TEM) and Wireless Mobility Management (WMM) Programs
AOTMP, Oct 2010, Pages: 19
There are many areas for potential savings within any fixed or wireless telecom expense management programs. From audit and optimization activities to contract negotiation and chargeback controls, the enterprise has multiple avenues in which to pursue cost saving opportunities within the Telecom Expense Management (TEM) and Wireless Mobility Management (WMM) program. This research will reveal the areas in which enterprises are achieving the most savings within their TEM and WMM programs and uncover specific activities which facilitate the savings within those key areas.
Telecom Expense Management (TEM) and Wireless Mobility Management (WMM) programs have been deployed across enterprise telecom environments for many years. Early adopter programs originated on the fixed/wireline side, as this is where an overwhelming majority of the telecom expense was being incurred and wireless communications were still in its infancy stage. As business need for wireless services increased, combined with the complexity of managing these services, many organizations incorporated wireless services into their programs.
Regardless of when the program was established, most are adopted with cost savings as the primary objective of the program. AOTMP research indicates that 60% of all programs today contain both fixed and wireless cost saving activities, with only 11% indicating no formal cost saving activities have been instituted. It is interesting to note that 9% of programs are solely focused on wireless services, leaving fixed services untouched. This reflects an increasing number of enterprises who are still relatively new adopters of TEM and WMM program concepts, and they chose to focus efforts on their greatest challenge - wireless services.
