It is seldom that one can describe a book as a true classic but this is indeed the case here and in its day this atlas was used in virtually every nuclear medicine department in the world! However many of the images in the second edition now appear dated and there have been dramatic developments in the field including new radiopharmaceuticals, PET/CT and SPECT/CT. There is therefore a wonderful and exciting opportunity for us to once again produce something special. It should be pointed out that no atlas has ever approached the popularity of our book and what we now propose is an ambitious project to produce the first comprehensive atlas of nuclear medicine, which will encompass all of the developments in recent years and in particular PET.

The book has 13 sections including new sections such as paediatrics, oncology, hybrid imaging (SPECT/CT & PET/CT) and infection imaging. However each section would be comprehensive with newer examples/cases with correlative/hybrid imaging (SPECT and PET/CT) included where appropriate. This atlas contains superb illustrative cases and valuable supportive information, together with highlighted teaching points aiding all clinicians in routine practice. This will be an excellent guide for beginners, those in training and also for experienced practitioners. A predicted must for every nuclear medicine department in the world!
