IBISWorld, June 2011, Pages: 42
Boxed in: Despite improved demand, continued outsourcing will hurt domestic paperboard mills
Paperboard Mills in the US
Boxed in
After struggling during the recession, paperboard mills will enter a period of marginal growth in the coming years. The manufacturing industries will ramp up production as the economy recovers, driving up demand for paperboard used in cardboard packaging. However, as more manufacturing companies offshore their production to lower-cost countries, growth in domestic demand for paperboard will falter.
This industry processes pulp, used paper and old corrugated containers (OCC) into various paperboard varieties, including unbleached and bleached packaging paperboard, coated paperboard, industrial converting paperboard and recycled paperboard. The paperboard produced by this industry is sold mainly to cardboard box and container manufacturers and to a range of consumer and industrial product producers for further processing.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
