Paint Stores in the US
IBISWorld, March 2011, Pages: 33
Flying colors: Adverse effects from competition threaten growth, but demand is set to rise
Paint Stores in the US
Industry showing its true colors
The industry will continue to face competition from home improvement stores, which offer convenience, lower prices and one-stop shopping to consumers. Furthermore, rising input prices will cut into growth. Still, the recovering housing market will benefit revenue over the next five years, with a modest increase set to occur.
Operators in this industry retail a broad range of paint, wallpaper and other wall-related supplies. Products include stain, varnish, painting equipment and accessories that are used for interior and exterior surfaces. Firms purchase wall coverings from domestic and international manufacturers and wholesalers; then, they retail them to the general public and contractors. This industry does not include home improvement stores, hardware stores and lumber and other building material dealers.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
