Airport Operations in the US
IBISWorld, Feb 2012, Pages: 37
Friendly skies: Renewed demand for air travel will support revenue growth
Airport Operations in the US
Flying high
Industry operators will begin to recover over the next five years, as demand for air travel increases. While airport security requirements are expected to become more stringent, profit will improve due to increased passenger and cargo volume. The level of funding provided by the federal government will continue to be pivotal to many US commercial airports, particularly for those that depend on these funds for their capital expenditure. New technologies will also drive revenue growth, as new air traffic control systems are implemented.
The industry includes businesses that operate international, national or civil airports or public flying fields. It also includes operators that support airports (except special food services contractors), offering aircraft refueling, aircraft parking, hangar space rental, air traffic control services, baggage handling services, cargo handling services and others. A fixed base operator (FBO) commonly provides these services.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
