IBISWorld, April 2011, Pages: 35
Plugged in: Providers will look to bundling and value-added services to sustain growth
Cable, Internet & Telephone Providers in the US
Changing the channels
This once mature industry is experiencing growth as technological changes offer subscribers the bundling of a number of services. Providers will also benefit from an expanded number of channels available in digital format and new services such as video-on-demand and interactive TV. The shift to new value-added digital cable and satellite services will continue to promote growth in revenue.
This industry comprises operators primarily engaged as third-party distribution systems for broadcast programming. The operators deliver visual, aural, or textual programming received from cable networks, local television stations, or radio networks to consumers via cable or direct-to-home satellite systems on a subscription or fee basis. This industry does not include cable network program producers, which are the primary players in the Cable Networks industry (NAICS 51321).
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
