FRANKFURT (Standard & Poor's) Sept. 29, 2003--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that the announcement by Deutsche Post AG (A/Negative/A-1) that it will validate an IPO of Deutsche Postbank AG (A/Negative/A-1) within the next 18 months is unlikely to affect the ratings or outlook on either entity. Although Deutsche Post might reduce its current 100% stake in the bank in the wake of the potential IPO, it is expected to remain committed to Postbank. This is underpinned by Deutsche Post's assurance that it will maintain a majority holding for the foreseeable future, and that Postbank will retain its exclusive access to the Deutsche Post branch network.
