General Motors Co.'s initial public offering has grabbed a great deal of attention leading up to the big event. Wednesday afternoon, the company announced the pricing at $33 each. News reports earlier this week indicated that the company would raise the expected range of its common share price to between $32 and $33 as well as increase the number of shares being offered. General Motors earlier specified that it would offer 365 million common shares within a price range of $26 to $29. General Motors offered 478 million common shares, which, along with the expected underwriters' over-allotment, placed the IPO value at more than $18 billion.
