Abstract
LONDON -- Standard & Poor's CreditWire 11/6/97 -- Standard & Poor's today lowered its local currency long-term corporate credit rating on Empresa Nacional de Electricidad S.A., (Endesa) to double-'A' from double-'A'-plus, removing it from CreditWatch where it was placed with negative implications on Aug. 5, 1997. Endesa's foreign currency corporate credit rating remains double-'A,' but is no longer constrained by the foreign currency sovereign ceiling. At the same time, Standard & Poor's affirmed its 'A-1'-plus short-term rating on Endesa. See below for list of ratings. The outlook for both foreign and local currency ratings is stable.
