On Dec. 1, 2006, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services placed its long-term ratings, including its 'A-' long-term corporate credit ratings, on U.K.-based electricity and gas utility Scottish Power PLC and related entities on CreditWatch with negative implications. At the same time, the 'A-2' short-term corporate credit and CP ratings on Scottish Power and its subsidiaries were affirmed. The short-term ratings have not been placed on CreditWatch. The rating actions follow the announcement on Nov. 28, 2006, by Spanish utility Iberdrola S.A. (A/Watch Neg/A-1) of a recommended -17.1 billion cash and share offer to acquire Scottish Power.
