Abstract
Since 2000, the introduction of the master trust structures into U.K. prime RMBS securitizations has been one of the main drivers behind the rapid growth of this market sector. U.K. prime RMBS issuance during the first quarter of 2007 was £21.9 billion (equivalent), which represents just over a third of the total issuance for 2006, which was £64.5 billion (equivalent). Total issuance from 2000 to-date stands at £206 billion (equivalent). Issuance up to and including the first quarter of 2007 has been dominated by Northern Rock PLC, Halifax PLC, and Abbey National PLC.
