BUENOS AIRES (Standard & Poor's) Dec. 10, 2010--Standard & Poor-s Ratings Services said today that its rating on Chile-based electricity provider Enersis S.A. (BBB+/Stable/--) is not affected by the placement of its Spain-based 60% parent Endesa S.A. on CreditWatch Negative. The CreditWatch listing reflects our current uncertainty as to whether a one-notch uplift should be applied to Endesa's 'bbb+' stand-alone credit profile for potential Italian government support. Enersis's credit quality comes from its satisfactory business-risk profile and its modest financial-risk profile. The business profile is supported by its Chilean investments; its solid competitive position in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru; and the favorable trends for power demand in most of those countries.
