Standard & Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AA' long-term rating, with a stable outlook, to Mesquite, Texas' series 2009 general obligation (GO) refunding bonds, series 2009 combination tax and revenue certificates of obligations, and series 2009 public property finance continuing contractual obligations. In addition, Standard & Poor's affirmed its 'AA' long-term rating and underlying rating (SPUR) on the city's outstanding GO debt. The 'AA' long-term rating reflects our view of the city's: Location in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan statistical area and participation in the expanding regional economy; Good management, financial performance, and reserve position; and Growing and diverse tax base.
