Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Dec. 17, 2008--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services raised its underlying rating (SPUR) on the City of Bethlehem and Bethlehem Authority, Pa.'s general obligation (GO) bonds outstanding to 'A-' from 'BBB+' based on the city's diversifying revenue stream and stabilizing financial performance, as well as our expectation that both adequate reserve levels and moderate overall net debt levels will be maintained or improved. The outlook is stable. 'The rating also reflects our opinion of the city's participation in the greater Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton metropolitan area and sizable economic development projects completed or underway, which should bolster the city's tax base,' said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Michael Taylor.
