Abstract
PARIS (Standard & Poor's CreditWire) Oct. 31, 2000--Following the announcement that Veneto Banca SCRL has reached an agreement with Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group PLC to acquire two of the latter's life insurance companies, Standard & Poor's today placed on CreditWatch with negative implications its ratings on Veneto Banca, including the triple-'B'-plus long-term and 'A-2' short-term counterparty credit ratings on the bank. (See list below for all ratings affected.) The CreditWatch placement follows the announcement that Veneto Banca will acquire the entire capital of Royal Sun Alliance Insurance Group's two Italian life insurance companies, Royal & SunAlliance Vita (RSAV) and SunAlliance Vita (RSA).
