Abstract PARIS (Standard & Poor's) Oct. 18, 2005--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services today commented on its CreditWatch placement of Italy-based companies Banca Nazionale del Lavoro SpA (BNL) and Compagnia Assicuratrice Unipol SpA (Unipol). The 'BBB+' long-term and 'A-2' short-term counterparty credit ratings on BNL and the 'A-' long-term counterparty credit and insurer financial strength ratings on Unipol remain on CreditWatch with negative implications, where they had originally been placed on July 27, 2005, and June 3, 2005, respectively. The ratings on BNL were initially placed on CreditWatch with positive implications on March 21, 2005, following the announcement by Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A.
