BNP Paribas Affirmed At 'AA/A-1+'; Banca Nazionale del Lavoro Placed On CreditWatch Positive Feb 06

Abstract
PARIS (Standard & Poor's) Feb. 6, 2006--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that it affirmed all of its credit ratings on French banking group BNP Paribas, including the 'AA' long-term and 'A-1+' short-term counterparty credit ratings on the bank and those on related entities. The outlook is stable. At the same time, Standard & Poor's placed its 'A-' long-term and 'A-2' short-term counterparty credit ratings on Italian bank Banca Nazionale del Lavoro SpA (BNL) on CreditWatch with positive implications. The rating actions follow BNP Paribas' announcement Feb. 3, 2006, that it reached a conditional agreement to acquire 48% of BNL with 13 of the Italian bank's shareholders, including Italian insurer Compagnia Assicuratrice Unipol SpA (A-/Watch Neg/--).
