Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services expects the overall ratings trend for building materials companies in 2007 to continue to be stable to slightly negative, as the declines in residential construction and home prices are creating a drag on the economy. It appears that the current environment is slightly worse than what we had anticipated under our base case scenario ( "Key Credit Factors: Three Scenarios For U.S. Building Materials In 2007," published Nov. 3, 2006).
