Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AA-' issuer credit rating (ICR) to the Carle Foundation, Ill., which is the parent of the Carle Foundation Hospital (Carle). At the same time, Standard & Poor's removed its 'AA-' underlying rating (SPUR) on the foundation's series 2004A-1, A-2, A-3, and A-4 bonds, issued by the Illinois Finance Authority, as those bonds have been redeemed. The 'AA-' ICR reflects Carle's: Solid business position, reflected by its leading and growing market share of 42% in the Champaign-Urbana area, growing volumes, and the provision of differential and tertiary levels of services compared with the main competitor in the area; Strong relationship with the independent Carle Clinic Association (CCA), which has more than 300 physicians on...
