Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has completed the second full year of enterprise risk management (ERM) reviews for European companies, and almost all of our rated companies have now had an ERM opinion published. The opinions given in the table at the end of this article update those in the article titled "Enterprise Risk Management Assessments On Europe's Insurers" published on RatingsDirect on Aug. 1, 2007. Our aggregate findings show that ERM is becoming more important to European insurance companies and they are trying to embed it more effectively within their decision-making processes (see chart).
