BNP's Ratings Affirmed, Paribas' Long-Term Ratings Raised; Both Off Watch; Outlooks Positive Oct 99

Abstract PARIS (Standard & Poor's CreditWire) Oct. 6, 1999--Standard & Poor's today affirmed its ratings on Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and related entities and removed them from CreditWatch where they had been placed on March 10, 1999. In a related action, Standard & Poor's raised its long-term ratings on Paribas S.A. and related guaranteed entities--equalizing them with those of BNP--and affirmed the short-term ratings. The long- and short-term ratings were removed from CreditWatch, where they had been placed on Feb. 1, 1999. The outlook on both BNP and Paribas is positive.(See list below for details of all rating actions.)
