The banking system of the Republic of Tunisia (foreign currency BBB/Stable/A-3; local currency A/Stable/A-1) remains characterized by a weak financial profile, particularly for public sector banks, despite a stable macroeconomic environment and consistent recovery in GDP growth after the sharp slowdown of 2002.
