Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services' base-case outlook for the remainder of 2010 for the U.S. gaming industry is slightly negative, while our outlooks for the U.S. lodging and cruise industries are stable. Our preliminary base-case outlook for each industry for 2011 is stable. These outlooks are based on the following fundamentals: Real GDP growth remaining moderately positive as the economy continues a gradual recovery; A slight increase in consumer spending, albeit weighted toward essential items; Unemployment remaining above 9% through 2011; Visits to destination-oriented gaming markets increasing slightly, but spending per customer remaining weak; Revenue generation remaining relatively stable in most regional gaming markets; U.S. revenue per available room (RevPAR) staying flat to up 3% in 2010, and growing in...
