Industry Report Card: Global High-Tech Credit Trends Remain Positive, Even Amid Flattening Industry Growth In Late 2010 Dec 10

Abstract
Rating change trends in the global high-tech sector were positive in 2010, despite the sequential flattening in overall IT spending growth in the second half of this year. This followed the strong improvement in industry conditions recorded in the first half of the year, especially for the semiconductor, components, and hardware markets. Standard & Poor's Ratings Services' current expectations for 2011 are for continued moderate revenue growth across the sectors and mid-single-digit growth overall. The most notable trend difference will be in semiconductors, which should record mid-single-digit growth in 2011, compared to the sharp recovery recorded in 2010 from 2009's depressed levels, and which resulted in over 30% year-over-year growth this year.
