The Taiwanese Feature Phone Industry, 1Q 2011

This report presents forecast and recent quarter review of Taiwanese feature phone shipment volume, shipment value, ASP, volume and share by maker and by price point, and manufacturer volume ranking. The report also includes product mix analyses, including phone type, system technology, display color count mix, embedded camera and camera array format, and handset shape. Assembly levels, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are also examined. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with feature phone makers. The report finds that Taiwanese feature phone industry, which saw significant sequential growth in shipment volume and value in the third quarter of 2010, slowed down in the fourth quarter of 2010. With a moderate increase in shipment volume and a significant decrease in ASP, the industry¡¦s fourth-quarter shipment value continued to see sequential growth albeit at a much slower rate. The industry¡¦s shipment volume is anticipated to have witnessed strong year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2011 and the year-on-year growth momentum is expected to continue well into the second quarter of 2011.
