Nomura Group Companies Downgraded On Weakened Performance; Outlook Stable Jan 09

Abstract
TOKYO (Standard & Poor's) Jan. 27, 2009--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services today lowered to 'BBB+' from 'A-' its long-term counterparty credit rating on Nomura Holdings Inc., and to 'A-' from 'A' its long-term counterparty credit ratings on Nomura Securities Co. Ltd., Nomura Trust & Banking Co. Ltd., and Nomura Bank International PLC. The outlooks on the long-term counterparty credit ratings on the four downgraded companies are stable. At the same time, Standard & Poor's lowered to 'A-2' from 'A-1' its short-term counterparty ratings on Nomura Securities Co. Ltd., Nomura Trust & Banking Co. Ltd., and Nomura Bank International PLC.
