The South Korean logistics sector, valued at $24.5bn in 2010 has been rising appreciably at a CAGR of 6.6% since 2005 This growth is slated to increase till 2014 on the back of a well developed infrastructure including high-speed railway and expressways and a strong IT scenario in the country.
The major risk to this is the worsening in relations between the two neighbors, however with the support of the US, the situation is likely to be under control and not lead to a major crisis.
The growth in Chinese trade (growing by nearly 3% over 2005-2010) has boosted the cargo shipped through the sea. Also, the government's plan to position the country as the logistics hub for Northeast Asia will further increase the maritime cargo traffic in the coming years.
